Sri Lankan New Year, generally known as Aluth Avurudda (Sinhala: අලුත් අවුරුද්ද) in Sri Lanka, is a Sri Lankan holiday that celebrates the traditional New Year of the Sinhalese and Tamil people in Sri Lanka.

Our History

Since 2013-14 the Sri Lankan Community of Ballarat, mostly newcomers, had come together to organise a series of cultural and sports events reflecting our Sri Lankan heritage. Upon identifying the need for an official organisation to represent Ballarat Sri Lankans, we founded the Sri Lankan Australian Association of Ballarat (SLAAB) in March 2018
