About us
Sri Lankan Australian Association of Ballarat (SLAAB) is a not for profit organisation consisting of members of Sri Lankan heritage and their well wishers residing in the Central Highlands Region. Sri Lanka is a vibrant multi-ethnic, multi-religious nation with a 2500 year history of rich culture and tradition. Our SLAAB membership is a true reflection of this multi-ethnic and multi-religious harmony.
To operate as a NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION
To provide a forum for members to meet, exchange views, cooperate, and take leadership in all activities of the Association
To organise cultural, educational, religious and entertainment programmes to foster cultural identity and diversity
To educate its membership and the wider community in relation to health and wellbeing and promote related activities
To network and cooperate with other organisations in programmes of common interest
To facilitate the integration of newly arrived Sri Lankans in Central Highlands Region to the local community by providing them with necessary information
To serve as an information hub to Australians who are interested in Sri Lanka and its culture
To promote cross cultural activities within the region accepting, respecting and understanding the diversity of communities living in the Central Highlands Region
To foster the welfare of members and their families
To serve as a platform for fund raising for humanitarian causes such as aid for victims of natural disasters within Australia and internationally
To support any lawful activity heretofore unlisted, but deemed appropriate by the members of the association
To acquire assets to maintain the above objectives and purposes
