Sri Lankan Australian Association of Ballarat (SLAAB) is a not for profit organisation consisting of members of Sri Lankan heritage and their well wishers residing in the Central Highlands Region. SLAAB’s objectives are clearly laid out on our official website: Sri Lankan Australian Association of Ballarat (slaab.org.au). One of our objectives is to “act as a platform for fundraising for humanitarian causes such as aid for victims of natural disasters within Australia and internationally” and we have successfully completed a few programmes during the recent Covid19 pandemic to help out disadvantaged local residents in Ballarat.

As you most likely are aware, Sri Lanka is going through a severe economic crisis at present. Amongst various other consequences, this situation has led to an alarming shortage of essential medical supplies, putting the lives of millions of Sri Lankans at risk. As SLAAB, we believe it is our duty and responsibility to extend a helping hand in their hour of need. Our association is blessed with a number of local GPs and medical specialists of Sri Lankan origin who have already been in touch with their counterparts in Sri Lanka to come up with a transparent and effective process of sending medical aid to Sri Lanka.
Several fundraising events have been lined up to raise money towards this process.

As the main event of these fundraising activities, we will be organising a music concert in Ballarat on Saturday 24 September 2022 at Abbey Theatre, Loreto College Ballarat, which will be attended by a large audience of Sri Lankan Australians from all over Victoria. This concert will feature popular contemporary Sri Lankan musicians with a large local and international fan base
